On Saturday Linlithgow played their final league match of the season against Musselburgh at Boghall.

The home side won the toss and invited their opponents to bat first.

Gregor Thomson and Donald Bennie opened the bowling for Linlithgow and the visitors were quickly in disarray, losing their first three wickets before a run was scored from the bat.

More chances came and went as Musselburgh regularly played loose shots. Eventually, however, the beginnings of a recovery came with skipper Devaraj leading the way with a score of 44.

This ended when David Brown produced an excellent piece of fielding to run out Devaraj and Donald Bennie ran out Verma when he dropped a return catch onto the stumps at the non-strikers end.

Gregor Thomson produced one of his best spells of the season and finished with figures of 6 overs, 5 maidens, 4 wickets for just 3 runs!

Musselburgh were all out for 70 in only 29 overs.

Linlithgow opened the batting with regular top order pair Paul Brookes and Gregor Thomson. Brookes made 8 in a stand of 26 runs for the first wicket. John Strachan joined Gregor at the crease and the duo saw Linlithgow home very comfortably with 22 overs to spare.

Gregor Thomson finished the match in style with a 6 over square leg that left him on 49 not out. This meant he finished 1 short of a third score of 50 plus for the season. John Strachan batted nicely to finish 12 not out at the other end.

Linlithgow collected the maximum 20 points from the fixture and as a result they finish the season in 4th place in East League Division 1.
