On Saturday Linlithgow fell to their second loss of the season in a low-scoring match against Murrayfield DAFS. Linlithgow won the toss and elected to bat first, carrying forward the confidence gained from the previous fixture. Conditions were tricky however the DAFS bowling attack stayed tight. The home side got off to a poor start with the top 5 collapsing for just 57 runs. A recovery was needed but not found, with the only real resistance coming from Andy Wallace who top-scored with 17 runs. The home side were eventually bowled out for 109, with dark clouds looming.
Linlithgow got off to the best possible start in response, with another aggressive spell of opening bowling finding 3 early wickets. Bowlers rotated in small, tight spells throughout the innings, eventually reducing DAFS to 59 for 7 before the first rain delay of three during the game. Pick of the bowlers were Gregor Thomson with 2 for 14, and Rory Martin with 2 for 12. A handy partnership saw DAFS reach 89 for 7 before the heavens opened and the BCG was water-logged within minutes. At this stage in the game DAFS were 3 runs ahead in the ESCA rain calculator, and the match was concluded with no further play in sight.
Linlithgow fall back to second in the league table, and next week face Watsonians 2nd XI at Myreside.
